Residential and Commercial Carpet Cleaning

We are often asked, "How often should I have my carpets cleaned?" While we jokingly reply "once a week" the truth is there is no set amount of time. Cleaning frequency depends on the type of traffic your carpet receives and how you maintain it. Some people can get by with having their carpet cleaned every few years, while some people need to have it cleaned 3 or more times each year.

Appearance alone should not be the determining factor when deciding when to clean the carpet. Carpet is designed to hide soiling. In fact, a tan, residential grade Saxony carpet can hide up to a pound of dirt per square foot before it becomes noticeably soiled. Once a carpet reaches this degree of soiling, it's not only in need of maintenance, but of restoration as well.

Commercial carpeting is often placed on a maintenance program where cleaning is scheduled before it reaches an unacceptable level. Manufacturers are increasingly requiring that residential carpets are placed on a regular maintenance cleaning schedule as well.

Soil, grit and grime in carpet can work like tiny razor blades, slicing and dicing your carpet fibers causing them to lose that "new" shimmer and taking years off your carpet life. Carpet that is well maintained will show wear much slower and is less likely to contribute to indoor air pollution which can help with indoor allergies.

Appearance, indoor pollution contributors (such as smoking, indoor pets, and heavy foot traffic) in addition to manufacturers requirements to maintain your warranty should all be factors in determining how often you have your carpets cleaned.  You can also add years of life to your investment by utilizing our stretching and repair services to reduce premature wear of your flooring.

Some things you can do between regular cleanings are:

  • Quickly treat spots and spills to minimize the risk of permanent damage

  • Vacuum all traffic areas weekly

  • Adopt a "no shoes" policy to reduce transferring outdoor contaminants to your floor

We can schedule commercial jobs on evenings or weekends at no additional charge so as not to disrupt your regular business hours

Carpet Stretching and Repairs

Do you have premature wrinkles? We can fix 'em! We are highly skilled at removing wrinkles and bubbling in your carpet.

There are many causes for "waves" or wrinkles in carpeting. The most common reason a carpet will develop wrinkles is poor installation. Many carpet installers are paid by the yard. The faster they work, the more they can make per hour. Unfortunately, this is not always conducive to a quality installation job. The resulting wrinkles usually don't show up for at least a year or more...long after the installer is gone.

Other causes of premature wrinkling are over-wetting from poor carpet cleaning, flooding, dragging heavy furniture across the carpet and old age. Besides re-stretching, we can also perform repairs to seams, mend burn marks, replace damaged areas of carpet by patching, and pet damage repairs. We can also fix frayed or destroyed edges or areas of carpet, and repairing carpet where it meets metal edging or adjacent floor types.

So, if you have split seams, burns or tears, waves or ripples, or even permanent stains, give us a call. From a small cigarette burn to re-stretching your entire house we can do it all. Before you give up on your old carpet, give us a call. You would be surprised how many more years of life just a little mending can add to your carpet.

Upholstery and Rug Cleaning

We know you have one. Your favorite chair...the one you relax in when you get home from a long hard day at work, the one you eat in while watching The Mentalist every Thursday night, the one that is so comfortable you often sleep in it! A little spill here, a little smell there...  We can hand shampoo your upholstery and fine area rugs to make them look their best and smell great again!

When was the last time you vacuumed your sofa? Not many people consider this as necessary as vacuuming your floor. But it is just as important! Upholstery, just like your mattress, is a feeding ground for dust mites. It accumulates pet and human dander, cookie crumbs, and plain 'ol dirt just like your floor - except you sit and lay on it much more often.

Next time we're out to clean your carpets, ask about our furniture cleaning service as well. If you don't have many visible spots or spills, a good thorough vacuuming will freshen it right up!

Quick response time is critical in any emergency situation. That's why we are available 24 Hours for your restoration needs!

Water Damage

It doesn't matter if your toilet overflows in the guest bathroom or if a pipe bursts flooding half of the house, we can take care of any job. The first thing to do - after you have called us of course! - is to start moving furniture out of the room that has been affected. *If a pipe has burst, be sure you turn the water off immediately* When we arrive, we will remove all of the water as well as any permanently damaged carpet or pad. Then drying equipment will be left in order to remove excess moisture from the walls, baseboards, or other affected structure. We will come back to check on the progress every day to ensure the fastest and most thorough drying of your home or office. When moisture levels are restored, we will replace affected padding and relay carpet that was not permanently damaged or if both carpet and pad were removed, our carpet installers will contact you about replacement. We work closely with your insurance company so that you can have everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

Fire Damage

If you ever have to endure the troubles of fire or smoke damage, you will want to choose a company that is thorough and knows the best process to effectively remove all of the soot and odor from your home and belongings. This can be a very time consuming job! Everything must be wiped down to remove soot - from the walls and ceilings to each little nick-knack on your shelves. Clothes and bedding must be washed/cleaned thoroughly if affected. Your HVAC system will need to be thoroughly cleaned as well as your floors before your clean belongings are brought back into the home. Any items not cleanable or permanently damaged by the smoke/fire will be itemized for you and the insurance company. Be sure you contact your insurance company right away so that there is no delay in being able to get a qualified company out to begin the restoration process.

Residential Air Duct Cleaning

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems have been shown to act as a collection source for a variety of contaminants that have the potential to affect health, such as mold, fungi, bacteria, and very small particles of dust. The removal of such contaminants from the HVAC system and home should be considered as one component in an overall plan to improve indoor air quality. Be wary of any company that advises you to have your ducts cleaned as a "miracle" to cure all allergies!

We are often asked, "What is the difference in your cleaning process and your competitor?" We welcome these questions and encourage you to ask questions about the process used by any potential company so that you can make an educated decision. While the vacuum from our trailer mounted equipment draws air through the system, devices are inserted into the ducts to dislodge any debris that might be stuck to interior surfaces. The debris can then travel down the ducts to the vacuum, which removes it from the system and the home. We would be happy to explain the difference in more detail and as always, we will provide you with a solid evaluation to include all costs prior to any work being done.

Frequency of cleaning depends on several factors, not the least of which is the preference of the home owner. Generally, you can expect to wait about 5 years between cleanings. Some of the things that may lead a home owner to consider more frequent cleaning include:

  • Smokers in the household

  • Pets that shed high amounts of hair and dander

  • Water contamination or damage to the home or HVAC system

  • Residents with allergies or asthma who might benefit from a reduction in the amount of indoor air pollutants in the home's HVAC system

  • After home renovations or remodeling

  • Prior to occupancy of a new home

As an added bonus, cleaning your HVAC system can also likely help reduce your energy costs! Research by the U.S. EPA has demonstrated that HVAC system cleaning may allow systems to run more efficiently by removing debris from sensitive mechanical components. Clean, efficient systems are less likely to break down, have a longer life span, and generally operate more effectively than dirty systems.
